Walking-sticks

In the eighteenth century when the habit of concealing glasses and small binoculars within everyday objects became widespread the walking-stick was seen to be perfectly adapted to this purpose. An accoutrement for both men and women and the object of curiosity and amusement, such walking-sticks were in constant use throughout the nineteenth century.
